Simple Pleasures

It's spring break for Will this week, so I've been trying to fit some special, fun things into our days. I love the fact that kids find even the simplest of treats special. Plus, even as a grown-up I get excited for them.

On Monday night, we took the boys to watch Scott's hockey game. Usually his games are late (some don't start until 10pm) but yesterday it was 7:40pm. So, we got there a few minutes early to see the Zamboni and the kids got a chance to go into the locker room to see the guys ....no Moms allowed. We watched the first 2 periods (and checked out the video games at the rink, of course) and then headed home. Today we hit the grocery store this morning and then came home, packed up a lunch and headed to the airport lookout to watch the planes takeoff. Since it's chilly and super windy today, Will had the idea to have a picnic in the back of the car. So, we did. We backed right up to the railing, flipped down the middle seat between the carseats and climbed into the back. We brought our books about planes and the binoculars for Will to get a close-up view. Alex was SO excited, pointing out the window and jumping up and down yelling "air-pane, air-pane"!!! Just add some sippy cups, a few PB&J's and some pineapple and you've got pure joy.

Oh, the simple things in life.

I love it!!! I'm going to have to use your "airport-back of the car-picnic" idea!
