The boys have become increasingly chatty lately. Here's a sampling of this week's antics:
- Will's been going through a phase where he's REALLY scared of "bad guys" breaking into the house. A few weeks ago, Scott came home from work early (and unexpectedly) and I was napping with the boys. When I heard the security system "beep" to let me know a door had opened, I woke up and went downstairs to investigate. When I saw Scott coming around the corner, I jumped. Will was at his bedroom door and saw me jump and ever since then he's been terrified of bad guys. He's always checking that the doors are locked, that the garage door is down and he insists on being in the same room as us. To try and encourage him to be brave, we bought him a new pair of Superman jammies (a trick borrowed from Amber & Sebastian). So far the jammies have been working quite well. However, after all the talk about bad guys, it's now Alex's favorite word. I have NO idea how, but Alex has started associating "bad guys" with pickup trucks. So, whether we're looking at pickups in picture books or driving down the road, Alex keeps yelling out "bag-guys,bag-guys". Today we headed up to Greensboro to visit with Tim, Robin & Lily and for the first 20 minutes of the ride Alex kept pointing and saying "bag-guys".
- Will carpools to preschool with two other girls. One of them has two older sisters so she's widely versed in the elementary school lingo. On the drive home from preschool this week she taught him a new saying:
"Girls go to college to get more knowledge,
Boys go to Jupiter to get more stupid-er"
I'm pretty sure he didn't really understand the whole thing, but he went around saying it all afternoon regardless.
