Today the Volvo went into the mechanic for an oil change so I had both boys in the Civic. I still love that car and despite it being a coupe, we can fit both boys with their carseat/booster seat comfortably. I love zipping around and fitting into small parking spots.
So, we're in the car today and Will reminds me about a conversation we had a few months ago. I was trying to emphasize the importance of saving money and told Will about how I had enough money to buy my car right after graduating from college. My auntie Connie passed away while I was in college and left my brother and I each a decent amount of money. I "frittered" away about $100 dollars on the college life and saved the rest. I wanted to spend the rest on something that would have made Connie proud. Since my first job after graduation was in sales, I needed a car to get around. After extensive research, many road tests and LOTS of hardball dealer negotiation I bought the Civic. (On a side note, I opted for a stick shift even though I couldn't drive one. Scott drove the car off the lot for me and spent the better part of a week giving me lessons). 13 years later we're still driving that same car. I hope I made Connie proud with my choice!
So, Will brings up the car conversation again today and starts asking about my aunt. After a few minutes of discussion he asks me "did you give your aunt food?" I'm confused, not following what he's asking. All I can think of is that he knows we cook meals for moms with new babies and maybe he thinks we bring meals when someone dies? Or maybe after all the talk about Easter and the last supper he thinks Connie had a big meal before she died? I tell Will I don't really understand his question. So he asks again saying "did you give your aunt food in her cage?" Suddenly I realize he's thinking A-N-T. I start giggling realizing what he's thinking....that I had this pet ant, she died and she left me some money. Fortunately we get to our destination just in time for me to explain that an Aunt is the girl version of an Uncle. Too cute.

That is hilarious! I just love those little funny ways kids minds work.
That is really cute. :-)
LOVE THIS!!! Isn't it funny how the little mind works!!
Thank you for sharing this. When my Grandmother was sick she gave me her car because she couldn't dirve it anymore. It was a 1981 Buick Century - nasty little car!! I loved it! Mainly because it was free...but it was my Grandma's and I felt like it needed a little life! I loved that car and felt like Grandma got me out of a few speeding tickets! Thanks for bringing back some good memories!
wow, I bought my little Honda Civic with money that my aunt left me, too, when she passed away. 12 years later, it's still going strong - well, maybe strong is too strong of a word but she's holding her own! I drove it yesterday around town, sunroof open, and music blaring....so much fun and good memories with that car! I'll be really sad when it's time to let it go....do you think we could save our Civics til our kids are ready to drive in another 11 years????... Hugs :o)
