It sounds kind of strange to say, but this Christmas I'm almost thankful for the tanking US economy. I think it's bought things into perspective for us. We really scaled back on gifts this year, and I didn't feel guilty. I felt grown up and responsible. We made a point of talking with Will more about the "reason for the season" and I think the children's service on Christmas Eve helped reinforce the message for him. It's funny how less really is more. I'm the first to admit that Christmas has never really been my favorite holiday (the present thing kinda turns me off). But after this year, I'm coming around. Let's hope we can keep things low-key even after the economy perks up.

My sentiments exactly!! We scaled back too and I think that the lack of commercialism brought back into focus the REAL reason why we celebrate Christmas. I'm glad that you had a Merry Christmas...here's wishing you a warm and wonderful new year!
I love your slide show! I can't believe Lily is that big already. It seems like she was just born! I agree with you about cutting back, that it is a good thing and helps keep the focus on where it ought to be. :-)
