Life's so much less complicated when you're little

I just finished reading today's newspaper. It's my daily retreat. While the boys nap (or at least have a rest) I sit down with the paper and usually a couple mini Dove chocolates. Today I definitely enjoyed the chocolate more than the news. Between the financial market bailout, uncertainty about whether the presidential debates are even going to happen tonight, turmoil in Afghanistan, the Iraq war, Russia invading Georgia and the shortage of gas I started to get a little down.

So, after a few minutes of feeling sorry for myself I tried to focus on the happy stuff. I thought about how much fun I had with the boys at Ray's Splash Planet this morning (we had the whole place to ourselves). I thought about how excited Will was to each his lunch at the kid-sized picnic tables in the Ray's lobby while watching Tom & Jerry on the TV. Life's so much less complicated when you're little.

Alex's has started chatting a lot more lately. His world revolves around a handful of words now:

"Ba-Ba" means brother
"Ba" means ball or book (he uses ba interchangeably)
"Da-Yee" means Daddy
"Nee-Nee" means night-night
"Eeeff" means teeth
"uh-oooo" means "Uh-O" and usually means he's dropped his blanket and can't reach it (like in the laundry hamper or the recycling bin...both happened yesterday and he had his bum up in the air trying to reach in)

So, I need to stop worrying so much about the big stuff and just be happy that my little one knows how to wish me night night.

First of all, I give you a lot of credit for only eating a few pieces of chocolate! I like the list of words Alex is using, how sweet. It is understandable to feel down about the state of the world but good for you for re-focusing yourself! You rock.

i will now take your advice, go eat chocolate, and think about all the good things.

i'd love to be 2 years old again right now though!
