Parties, Pools & Presents

It feels like party central around here these days. With both boys having June birthdays only 11 days apart we've been in celebration mode ever since we got back from our trip.

Alex turned 2 on Wednesday. We opened presents before Scott left for work and then hit the toy store so that Will could pick out his gift for Alex. He settled on a power tool kit that comes with all sorts of fun attachments. As Scott said "Wow, Alex now you've got more tools that I do!"

Here's the boys taking a spin on Alex's new plasma car. Note: after allowing the boys to ride it in the house on Alex's special day it's now officially an outside toy.

The afternoon we spent in the water. I set up the slip 'n slide, and inflatable pool and loaded up the boys' new water guns. Will played with the neighbors but unfortunately a serious case of diaper rash put a damper on the festivities for Alex. He spent most of the time standing up (too painful to sit) and grizzling. Poor guy wasn't up for a cuddle either since he didn't want me putting my arm under his bum. He did however manage to sit in his seat (albeit a little crooked) to enjoy what we guessed would be a collection of his favorite foods for supper: steak, grilled sweet potato and corn on the cob. Oh, and bread of course. Followed by a homemade strawberry ice cream cake for dessert. After all, he's known as the fruit monster around here (hence the reason for the sore bum....too much fruit).

Instead of big birthday parties for the boys this year, we decided to spend a night at the new Great Wolf Lodge that just opened in Concord. If you've never been to (or heard of) it before, check out this link: http://www.greatwolf.com/concord/lodge

So, we headed up there Sunday afternoon to play. It was awesome!! I think both boys had a super time. Even with Alex not being old enough for the real waterslides, there was lots for him to do. I took a few pictures, but with water spraying at me from all directions most of the time, I tried to keep my camera dry and just focus on enjoying time with the family.

Stay tuned for more festivities as Will celebrates his fifth birthday on Father's Day.

what fun pictures and what a cool place - the Great Wolf Lodge! Sure missing spending bithdays with you guys -again - this year. Maybe we can plan one year to all be together in mid-to-late June to celebrate them all! Hugs to my 2 big boys! Oh my, they grow up too fast!
