For the last few weeks, Will's been eying the big-kid waterslides at the pool with envy. There's four total. Two of them are short and REALLY fast and they dump you into a 10-foot deep pool, so they are definately off limits. The other two are the twisty-turney ones like at a regular waterpark. The blue one's covered and the red one's opened. For weeks I've been telling Will that once he learns to swim he can go on them. Well, last week he noticed kids with red (non-swimmer) bracelets going down the red & blue slides. Sure enough, we learned that he could go down the two slides and a lifeguard would catch him at the bottom (the pool is only 3.5 feet deep). He was so ready to go. With a big pile of bravery (on my part) and some heavy doubt that he'd actually do it, I sent him up the steps to stand in line. I reminded him that it was OK to come back down the stairs if he got too scared once he got to the top. Well, in true Will style he went (just like his desire to do the flume ride at Busch Gardens). I was so proud of him!! Then he went again and again and again. Now every trip to the pool is all about the waterslides.
