Hilton Head

With the long, wet, cold winter that we've had so far we took a well-needed get-away last weekend. Our neighbors who are HUGE Disney fanatics graciously invited us to stay with them at the Disney Resort in Hilton Head. For those Northerners out there, I know it sounds like I'm being a big sissy complaining about the weather here in the South, but let me explain. After 13 years here, we've gotten pretty used to the dry mild winters. But this year's really thrown us for a loop...it's been the wettest winter in nearly 30 years and the coldest winter in almost 50 years.

We picked the kids up from school a little early on Friday and hit the road by about 2:45pm. We made great time and hit the Crazy Crab restaurant on the island around 6:30pm. We laid low Friday night, but packed in the activities for the rest of the weekend...bike rides, roller blading, trips to the beach, lots of great seafood, movie night, the adults played cards after the kids were in bed and we spent lots of time swimming in the heated pool. Even with it being off-season, Disney had plenty of activities for the kids (a magician, a Wii playdate and a family campfire with S'mores). Oh, and let's not forget Scott's highlight of the weekend...GOLD for the Canadian hockey team!

Here's some pictures of the highlights:
