Hurricane Bill...meet Will

Last weekend we headed down to North Myrtle Beach for a quick beach fix before Will starts Kindergarten on Thursday. We've been going to the same condo for more than 5 years but we've never been during the summer months...go figure. We typically spend Canadian Thanksgiving down there with my brother and his family as well as my parents.

The first night there, my parents went down to the beach with Will & Scott to check out the waves coming from Hurricane Bill. It's amazing to think that the storm was 600+ miles away and was still generating 10-15 foot waves. We spent Saturday and Sunday mornings on the beach but there was no swimming allowed due to the strong undertows. The boys still enjoyed playing in the sand and testing out the skim board though. On Monday there was a "swim with caution" flag out so Will, Scott and I all tried out the boogie board...very fun but with the waves still bigger than usual we all ended up with salt water up our noses and sand down our swimsuits!

We fit in a round of family mini golf and Scott took Will to his first par-3 course. Of course, we hit the outlet mall a time or two as well. Alex's highlight was driving the golf cart down to the beach. The funny thing is that the golf cart has been at the condo every time we've been to visit, but for some strange reason we've never taken it out. But this year, with all the towels, beach toys and gear we finally broke it out and it was awesome! Our place is about 4 blocks from the beach, so it drastically sped up our commute compared to loading all the stuff into the wagon and walking down. There's even free golf cart parking spots right on the beach. Best of all, after the boys were in bed Sunday night Grandma & Grandpa babysat while Scott and I took a bottle of wine and the golf cart and headed down to the beach!

LOVE the pics and seeing the boys - One complaint though - there's not one of YOU! Us long-distance peeps need to see YOU, too; I miss your smiling face, Nic! Sounds like a nice trip (sigh, I miss the beach sooooooo much!) -
