Christmas 2009

I'd have to say that this Christmas was one of the best. First of all, we were all thrilled to have Scott's sister, brother-in-law and nephew down from Nova Scotia to join in the festivities. Scott and I have been together for 13 Christmases and this is the first one we've spent with his family. Each winter I suggest that we go to Canada for the holidays and each year I get the same answer "it's too cold. I'm not going up there in the winter...we'll go home in the summer". I talk about how much the boys would love the snow and how I'd like to learn about some of his Christmas traditions, but no dice. We've had cold winters all our lives and he's done with it.

So, this year Ross, Donna and Carelton surprised us with the news that they were coming to us. I couldn't have been more excited. It worked out perfectly...the boys got to golf twice, went to the Panther's game and even made it to a Bobcat's game. I picked up two new Christmas food traditions (a yummy Hummingbird cake and some special Log Cabin Potatoes) and Will and Alex were spoiled rotten. Special thanks to Ross who handled all our pre-Christmas "assembly required" toys!

One of the highlights this year was watching Grandma & Grandpa open their gift. Tim and I had several of their old home movies put on DVD. It was so cool to watch their wedding, Tim learning to walk and both of us getting on the bus on the first day of school . I think Will was shocked to learn that Grandma wasn't always "old" and that I went to school on the bus just like he does. What great memories.

Here's some of the highlights:
